Days 1 to 3:
Depending on your international flight, your safari will start either at Maun or at Kasane. You will then be transferred via charter flight to Chobe National Park and the Savute Elephant Camp where you will spend 3 nights. In the heart of the Chobe National Park, sometimes referred to as the elephant capital of the world, is the Savute - an area that personifies the eternal contrast of Africa. Perched on the former banks of the now dry Savute Channel, the Savute Elephant Camp by Orient-Express offers a spectacular birds eye view of elephant in their natural habitat.
The Savute is a dramatic area which is home to high concentrations of elephant and lions. Prides up to 40 strong are not uncommon, as are sighting of all the other major predators; the endangered wild dog, leopard, cheetah and the hyena. Savute is also renowned for its excellent birding during the summer months (December through March), as well as being home to some very rare rock paintings drawn by the early San Bushmen, who once inhabited the region.
Days 4 to 8:
After your third night at Savute Elephant Camp you will be transferred via flight to Maun and will drive to the Moremi Game Reserve. You will spend the next five nights on the Moremi Game Reserve and the Okavango Delta with the best mobile safari in the world. Unrivalled on any mobile safari that we know of... Our mobile safari expeditions hold true to the ideals of Jack Bousfield’s original operations in East Africa. Traditional and spacious tents appointed with 1920s luxury and style blend bygone comfort with rugged panache. Polished copper water jugs, paraffin lamps, pure white cotton sheets and feather bedding ensure an authentic safari experience – Real adventure in unreal style!
Days 9 to 11:
After 5 extraordinary nights, you will be transferred to the most incredible camps in Africa, Jack’s Camp in the Makgadikgadi Pan for the following three nights. While on a trapping expedition in the Makgadikgadi Pans during the 60's, Jack Bousfield stumbled upon a site that so captured his imagination that he set up camp under an acacia with the unshakeable expectation that others would feel the same... The choice of such a striking locale, owed much to his original taste for the savage beauty of a forgotten Africa where he lived until his tragic death in an aircraft accident in 1992.
As a homage to the vision of his father, Ralph, his son, and his partner Catherine established Uncharted Africa Safari Co starting with Jack’s Camp which was refurbished at the beginning of 2003 - in a traditional East African 1940's safari style. Ten green roomy and stylish canvas tents with en-suite bathrooms and indoor and outdoor showers (for those who want to feel the Kalahari breeze on their skin) have been fashioned in classical style and are set into a palm grove creating an oasis of civilization in what can be the harshest of stark environments… Persian rugs underfoot and cool cotton sheets form a striking contrast with the rugged wilderness viewed from the comfort of one’s own verandah.
Days 12 to 14:
A charter flight will enable you to discover the Central Kalahari Reserve and Deception Valley Lodge where you will spend the last three nights of your safari. Deception Valley Lodge an oasis in the Kalahari of Botswana, a luxury lodge close to the famous Okavango Delta. Experience the Kalahari with Bushman at hand, to share their knowledge, while you can relax in total luxury at this unique destination. What makes Deception Valley Lodge unique is the rare opportunity to meet and explore this remarkable environment with bushman Guides of the San peoples, one of the oldest cultures in Africa. Experience a tour with real Bushmen. Exploring the bush on foot, while your guide will teach you of the hunting and survival skills, the culture and crafts of the San people, who over the centuries have adapted their lives to survive in the most inhospitable environment of them all.
Day 15:
Your safari will end either in Maun, Johannesburg or at any other airport of your choice.
