Luangwa River Lodge
Luangwa River Lodge borders the world renowned South Luangwa National Park in Zambia
which marks the end of the Great Rift Valley. It is one of the world’s last unspoilt wilderness areas and possibly the finest wildlife sanctuary in Africa. It covers an area of over 9050 sq. km
through which the Luangwa River runs.
The ox bow lagoons, Miombo woodland and plains of the Valley host huge concentrations of game
including elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, giraffe, hippo, wild dog, the puku, endemic to the region while being accompanied by over 400 species of birds.
Nestled under an ancient ebony grove in Zambia on the banks of the Luangwa River overlooking the Wafwa
Oxbow Lagoon lays this intimate owner-run lodge, catering for just five couples at any one time.
The Lodge’s gentle but exquisite décor fuses vibrant earth
tones and raw materials. Palm stalks, indigenous timber, thatch and red earthen plaster create a strikingly elegant yet warm atmosphere.
An unhurried environment to reflect and unwind providing a continuous link with nature and the natural flow of Africa’s endless wide open spaces.
The lodge is unique with its décor (all locally crafted and hand-made) and great
attention to detail has made Luangwa River Lodge quite like nothing else currently in South Luangwa or Zambia. The lodge is elevated between 1-3 metres on wooden decks affording great views to
the park and river.
The [infinity] swimming pool is sunk into the deck on two levels with a waterfall adjoining the two pools (one for
swimming and the other for seating).
