Okahirongo Elephant Lodge
Okahirongo Elephant Lodge is situated in the Kaokoland, often described as one of the last truly wild areas in
the North West of Namibia and it features beautiful mountain landscapes and rugged tranquillity. The lodge, in Purros Conservancy,
is a no risk malaria destination.
It is one of the Namibia’s most remote destinations. It can be reached either in a 4x4 vehicle or on a flight from Windhoek (approximately 2 hours). It is a must if you want to have the chance to see once in your life lion, black rhinos and giraffes in a desert environment.
Accommodation
The lodge has an incomparable view of this incredible part of the Namibian desert. During hot days, spend time lazing around the pool, remembering the incredible scenery and wildlife you have seen during your morning drive. There are also two open air lounges as well as a library. The common spaces are completed by a small spa where body massage can be enjoyed.
The lodge consists of 7 luxurious, en suite chalets, as well as an incredible suite with two rooms and combined living area, all with amazing views. The cottages are decorated in a mixed of ochre and sand colours and each of them has its own unique style and atmosphere. Handmade and locally crafted furnishing gives to this unique lodge a real African atmosphere.
Activities
Activities includes morning, afternoon as well as night drives. There are also special sunset and sunrise drives. If you are lucky enough you will may found the desert adapted elephants as well as ostrich, gemsbok and Springbok. But if you prefer you can spend your day at the lodge surrounded by the silence of the desert and watch colour changing almost every hour. Himba village can be reached in a short drive. You will certainly not miss the chance to visiting one of the stunning population of Africa.
