Sala's Camp
The Masai Mara Game Reserve is widely considered to be Africa's greatest wildlife reserve. It
comprises of 1510 square kilometres of open plains, woodlands and riverine forest, and is part of a massive ecosystem, contiguous with the plains of the Serengeti. Sala's Camp is situated on the banks of the Sand River, a secluded and private corner of the Mara, offering spectacular views across the plains towards
Tanzania.
Guests have the opportunity to witness one of the world's greatest natural spectacles, a natural wonder of the world - the Great Wildebeest Migration and voted in November 2006 a new natural
wonder of the world. Each year the promise of rain and green grass brings more than 1.3 million wildebeest and 200,000 zebra. These numerous migrants are followed along their annual, circular
route by a block of hungry predators, most notably lions and hyena. Sala's Camp is located at the heart of the migration.
Sala's Camp Accommodation
The Carr-Hartley safari tradition of adventure and elegance under canvas with personalised service
continues to be Sala's Camp trademark. The camp accommodates a maximum of 14 guests in six spacious double tents and one honeymoon tent. These en-suite tents are comfortable and romantic,
offering running hot and cold water, lighting and flushing toilets. The mess tent provides access to charging points for cameras and other electronic equipment.
This secluded spot is nestled on the convergence of two rivers and offers tranquillity and tremendous views along the Sand River towards Tanzania and the Serengeti. From your tent you will be
able to enjoy at abundance of birdlife and wildlife.
Sala's Camp Activities
Activities are complemented by the personal approach of Sala's Camp knowledgeable team and include morning and afternoon game drives; bush breakfast and lunches, sundowners and shared fire-side experiences.
Vehicles are designed for maximum comfort with game viewing made easy and fun through large roof hatches all with window seats ensuring several vantage points to watch and photograph wildlife and
birds.
Other activities include Balloon safaris and visits to Masai villages which can be arranged by the Sala's Camp team. Itineraries are
flexible and emphasis is laid on a relaxed yet service orientated approach.
Sala's Camp is easily accessible by road and only 40 minutes from Sekanni Gate. Keekorok airstrip is twenty minutes from the
camp and is serviced by several daily scheduled flights from Nairobi and the coast. Private charters can land at Keekorok airstrip.
