Moremi Crossing
Moremi Crossing, Okavango Delta
Moremi Crossing is a new 16 tented camp built on a palm fringed island surrounded by the Moremi's game-rich seasonal floodplains and overlooking Chief's Island. Moremi Crossing will be a new style safari camp combining luxury with simplicity. This is a 100% eco-friendly development featuring the latest in solar and waste disposal technology.
Eco Friendly
Moremi Crossing is leading the way in making the Okavango Delta as environmentally friendly as possible. The camp runs off a massive solar-panel, which feeds power to the entire camp.
Hot water is supplied through a state-of-the-art solar-heated geyser system, delivering hot water to each room.
Accommodation
Accommodation consists of 16 en suite and spacious tents on raised decks, each with their own veranda. We have both a Family Tent and a Honeymoon Tent.
The main building consists of a large open plan deck that has a spectacular view over the Boro River onto
Chief's Island. This crescent-shaped area is built on different levels to give you the feeling of space.
The dining room, bar and lounge are covered by a large thatched roof that hugs the tree line. Various small private lounge areas have been created for comfort, privacy and spaciousness. Within
the tree line you will find a nice shaded decked area that leads to the pool. Moremi also has a Curio Shop where you may pick up some mementos which will remind you of your stay.
Activities
ACTIVITIES & WILDLIFE
Time slows down at Moremi Crossing as here guests have the chance to experience the Okavango Delta and its game from a very different slower and closer perspective: whilst on foot or silently being poled by mokoro through the Delta’s waterways whilst in search of game.
Through the provision of high quality guiding services and new custom made boats Moremi Crossing offers a more personalized wildlife experience. Activities on offer are half or full day mokoro trips with game walks, bush walks with picnic lunch, wilderness camping and sunset motorboat cruises.
Game walks are conducted on Chief’s Island where you may come across numerous animal species not to mention our wide selection of birds and insects.
For the more adventurous we offer wilderness camping. This involves packing up a mokoro with camping equipment and going with a professional guide out into the Delta for a night or two. It’s a magical experience and a good way to get close to the birds and animals that the Delta has to offer.
For the less energetic there are boat cruises up and down the Boro River or you can take advantage of the relaxed atmosphere of the camp and its facilities. Moremi Crossing combines simplicity with luxury and is a perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature at its best.
Moremi Crossing being a water based camp offers a wide variety of animal and bird species, our walks on Chief’s Island give you the opportunity to get a better view of not just the big animals but the smaller insects and birds that contribute to the Okavango’s vast ecosystem. Game which has been spotted on walks has been Lion, Leopard, Wild dog, Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Buffalo, Red Lechwe and many more. On the mokoro’s you get to see the water birds like African Jacana’s, African Fish eagles and if you look carefully you will see the Malakite Kingfishers darting between the reeds, there is also a chance that your guide will find the rare Pel's Fishing owl.
